T3 - Home Learning for Creativity
Repurposing junk items
Inspired by the "Creativity for Social Enterprise" training materials teachers looked for opportunities to bring the learning into their subject areas (Maths, Physics, Turkish Language, English and German). They also agreed on a cross curricular, mini recycling project for preparatory year students.
The students created different objects and artifacts using waste materials from home. They displayed them as a class exhibition and voted for the best one. The "tank car", made of beer cans, came in as the best one.
This activity could be used to create “new” items from things that would normally be thrown away - to sell at school fairs, etc.
Could also be used to develop ideas for reusing and repairing items – a Repair Shop for the school!
